As part of their commitment to improving the range and quality of their products, Diverse has recently acquired Tropical Engineering, a world renowned Composite manufacturing company. For 10 years Tropical Engineering have been producing high quality carbonfibre components, often breaking new ground along the way. Past projects have included the first commercially certified all composite steering system for the Nigel Irens Powered round the world Trimaran “Trans Oceanic Adventurer”, the mast with which Shirley Robertson historically won Gold in Sydney 2000, and all the foils for Ellen Macarther's recent record breaking Trimaran B&Q. Tropical Engineering also supply some very well known Marine Industry companies with production components.

The founder of Tropical Engineering, Steve Mellors, is very much involved with the expanding Diverse team and Bob Cundall is the Managing Director. Bob has forty years experience in mechanical engineering and a long previous association with Diverse. In 1985 in conjunction with Diverse, Bob developed another familiar product, the 'loadcell', which is an essential tuning device for the modern raceboat.

“We predict that the combined skills, technology and knowledge from both companies will produce great things in the future. We have started designing some new ground breaking custom hardware which will be seen in action, on the water in the 2005 sailing season.”

Lou Varney, Director.
